With campuses in both DC and Bethesda, Sidwell Summer offers the ultimate summer programs experience for kids of all ages! With a wide range of programs, including Robotics & Coding, Arts, Sports, and Enrichment, families can choose the activities that interest their child while gaining lifelong skills. For summer 2023, we are excited to announce that we’re expanding many of your favorite Sidwell Summer programs and adding several brand-new offerings!
Calling all kids who love to learn in a hands-on environment! Sidwell Summer will offer STEM programs that are designed for kids who love to build and create. Robotics and Coding will allow campers to engage in off-screen activities that introduce and develop the basics in coding. Designed with age-appropriate curriculum, Robotics and Coding enables our youngest campers to have the right introduction to engineering and coding fundamentals, and our seasoned campers can build upon the skills they gained last year! Codemoji will introduce on-screen elements that allow your camper to learn the basics while developing confidence and fundamentals to carry them forward! Do you have any artists in the family? Sidwell Summer offers a WIDE variety of arts programs so campers can flex their artistic muscles in a way that’s appealing to them. From Machine Sewing to Woodworking to Art & Lit to Mixed-Media, there are truly more arts programs than a camper could do in one summer (although we invite you to try!). Our hands-on arts programs are perfect for kids who love to express themselves while learning lifelong skills. Perhaps you have a budding fashionist? Check out Accessorize & Styling offerings to encourage their dreams! If your child is art-inclined OR if their brain could use a break from traditional academic instruction, Sidwell Summer’s arts offerings are perfect to take your child’s summer to the next level. It wouldn’t be a (Sidwell) summer without the fields and courts full of campers and coaches! While we have offered our Tennis, Baseball, and Soccer camps the past couple of summers, we are excited to announce the addition of Boys & Girls Lacrosse, Field Hockey and Boys Elite Soccer camps to our summer roster! We encourage all campers to try a new sport or hone their skills and take their play to the next level. Did you know something happens in our brains when we try something new, especially when it involves developing new muscle memory? Have your child bring their confident, open-minded, adventurous spirit onto the court, field or wrestling mat to have an active summer. Our sports camps are offered as Full Day and AM Only programs, which can be paired with an enriching afternoon program to create a varied day. We provide the options- you create the ideal (Sidwell) summer!
As you may have guessed by now, when we plan our summer programs, we think of every child, and we think of the whole child. Our Summer Studies programs are the answer for campers who like to be challenged and grow their mind in a fun setting. From chess (which fills up every summer!) to our Summer Equity & Justice Institute program, your child will find meaningful engagement in an environment that’s accepting and encouraging. New this summer, we are delighted to announce our new Bridge Program. Get ready for inter-generational fun, as your camper comes home with bridge skills that can rival their grandparents. Our enrichment offerings are a great way for campers of all ages to sharpen and grow their skill sets!
And finally, the best program for our littlest-but-not-least-campers! We are overjoyed to announce the return of three and four-year-old programming in our ever popular Discovery Junior Day Camp on the DC Campus! While our older campers have a variety of self-designed workshops to choose from, Junior Day Campers will have bite-sized adventures as they explore arts & crafts, sports, music and storytelling, in a warm and supportive camp environment. They’ll learn to navigate playtime in a new environment while they make friends and try different activities led by stellar staff!
